Hotels Offering Incentives to Attract More Staff

According to a recent Convene article, Staffing Shortage in Travel and Hospitality Sectors Remains an Issue, employee shortages in the travel and hospitality sectors are slowly improving. A survey by the American Hotels and Lodging Association (AHLA) reports that 87 percent of hotels are experiencing a staffing shortage. Housekeeping was ranked the most critical staffing problem by 43 percent of respondents. But the tide may be slowly turning as hotels offer incentives that include higher wages (81 percent), expanded benefits (35 percent), and greater flexibility with hours (64 percent).
